Peacefully passed away at the North Bay Regional Health Centre on December 13, 2013 at the age of 86 years. Predeceased by his wife Frances ‘Fran’ (nee Haggart). Beloved father of Sherry White, Sandy Meloy ( David), Wendy Thoma and Davey (Kristy). Cherished grandpa of Shane ( Ronnie), Pamela, Leah, Jennifer, Matthew, Nathan, Victoria, Cameron, Lily and great grandpa of Marcus, Nicholas and Devin. Dear brother of Don (Joan) and Madeleine. Doug will be fondly remembered by several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Predeceased by his parents Edward and Edith (nee Simms), his brothers; Jim and Bill, and sisters; Maude and Margaret.  Doug was a member of the Masonic Strong Lodge #423, a WW II Veteran and former fire Chief of South River Fire Department. Family will be receiving friends at the Whispering Pines Funeral Home (15 King St. Powassan) on Sunday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. A Memorial Service to celebrate Doug’s life will be held in the Whispering Pines Chapel on Monday at 11 am. Spring Interment.
